Bin dive deal! I bought Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel because of the song The Only Living Boy In New York… this song gives me goose bumps, every time.
Bridge Over Trouble Water (1970) by Simon and Garfunkel
I rarely listen to this album start to finish. The title (and opening) track is a little cheesy and feels uninspired… but the rest of the album is pretty damn good. Classic Paul Simon, cultural and experimental with sound. And yet so American; conversational guitar and choir vocals full of spirit and momentum.
And the percussion and brass sound good too.
Cecilia feels particularly of Simon, with lyrics of heartbreak but the beat of a lively spirit.
Paul Simon wrote all but one of the tracks on this American Folk album (track five is a cover of the 1957 “Bye Bye Love”). Bridge Over Troubled Water is the final album released by Simon and Garfunkel.
